Meteorological Drought in Bangladesh using Standardized Precipitation Index: A Spatiotemporal Approach

Drought observation and analysis have a significant impact on lives properties. This research aims to identify the drought trend with its spatiotemporal distribution in seven climatic zones of Bangladesh. Mann-Kendall test Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) were used phenomenon visualized by Inverse Distance Weighting Interpolation. The findings demonstrate substantial declining for short-term period annual SPI-3, SPI-6 SPI-12 concerning northern part zone, north-western, western, southwestern, south-central whereas only increasing among these are found SPI-3 zone. Furthermore, southeastern north eastern zone vulnerabilities all classes SPI-12. western highest prone as it obtained >-0.026, >-0.024 >- 0.025 respectively. study recommends that mechanisms maintenance water management be taken order integrate response strategies droughtprone zones.
